Kailas Street Ventura California Hillside Home
A new home rising from the ashes of the Thomas fire on Ventura's hillside
A home built to take advantage of the spectacular views of the channel islands and the Pacific ocean. The south ocean facing side is entirely glass while the street side gives privacy from neighbors who look down into the site. The design is organized on a basic four square grid to divide private and public space. That grid is further divided into a 16 square grid with some pieces pulled in and out to create circulation, optic and volumetric expression in plan and elevation. This home is both sustainable utilizing passive solar features, water reclamation and designed to withstand a wildfire. |
