Ventura hillside

​Completed in 2025, a hillside remodel by studioDIG architects and studioDIG build, affectionately nicknamed the "mid-mod barn" by the clients — a nod to how the project preserves the home's original charm while introducing a modern aesthetic.


The original layout compartmentalized the home into many separate rooms, leaving the site's views largely untapped. Rather than expanding the indoor footprint, we removed walls to open the plan and let the home take full advantage of the views the site had to offer. We also added usable outdoor spaces that make the home feel significantly larger, without changing its size or footprint — all while meeting Ventura's wildfire and hillside overlay requirements.
